This has been a rather ‘trying’ week for me in regards to my relationship with one of our dogs.  He has not been listening to me, at all, and is being a complete jerk whenever I tell him to do something.  When I tell him to come he just stands there and stares at me like I’m speaking French, then if I take a step in his direction he runs away and wants to play the ‘come catch me’ game.  Which I refuse to do.  Pretty much any command I direct at him falls on deaf ears and he does whatever he wants.  To say this has frustrated me would be putting it mildly.  I have found myself at my wits end when trying to deal with him lately.  I have been following techniques from the dog whisperer, but they do not seem to be working.  I fully intend on continuing to follow them, but my biggest wish would be for him to make a housecall and get my dog in order once again.  I must say though, I am looking forward to visiting family this weekend, as there dog loves to play with our male dog, and our male dog, well, he does not enjoy it so much.  I say, too bad, so sad, deal.

I might be too picky

I sometimes think I may be a smidge too picky when I am looking for certain things. A prime example of this pickiness would be looking at pet beds. I can’t even count how many pet beds I have looked at and yet I still have not purchased one for our dog. I always seem to find something ‘wrong’ with whichever one I’m looking at and make the decision not to purchase. It’s either too cushy, not the right colour, wrong kind of fabric, too expensive, too small, too big or just plain ugly and I would not want it inside my house. Now it’s to the point where I have plain and simple just stopped looking at them. I decided that with summer coming up the dog would spending more time outside and wouldn’t require a pet bed so much as she does in the winter when she is inside most of the time. It’s not like she has nothing to lay on, we have blankets/old comforters that are designated for dog use only, so she has it pretty good as it is. And, that in itself, may be why it’s so hard to find the ‘right’ pet bed…

Sunshine Pets

It’s a very sunny day here today, and it has been a while since we have had this much ‘pure sun’, as in sun that lasts longer than an hour or so before getting consumed by clouds, and the pets are certainly enjoying it.  The dog didn’t want to lay on her blanket, but chose to sit a few feet away in the sun that was cascading across the floor, but looked guilty as she knew wasn’t supposed to be off her blanket.  I couldn’t help but laugh as she sat there, eyes closed, just soaking up the rays.  So, I moved her blanket into the sunspot, and she wasted no time sprawling out so as to enjoy the full effect of the sun’s warmth.  And, as I type this, my cat is laying on the bed next to the desk soaking up as many rays as his white fur will allow.  Now if only I could lay in the sun and sleep all day…

Snow Dog

We got quite the snowfall yesterday and my dog thought she would help me clear the walk. Who knew that bulldogs loved the snow quite this much? Maybe they don’t, but ours most certainly does!!
