American ‘Bore’dol

I had forgotten that American Idol was premiering last night until I heard something about it on the radio so I got a little excited as I usually watch the show from start to finish.  I turned it on last night and had lost interest within the first five minutes.  I’m not sure exactly what it was that caused that to happen, but I just had the whole ‘been there, done that’ feeling when I tried to watch it and I found it wholly un-interesting.  I don’t know what season it’s in, but after the lack of interest last night I’m wondering if maybe this should be the last one as the whole concept is kinda starting to lose appeal.  The auditions always seem to take so long and they like to show all the idiots who were told by some random stranger on the street they had a good voice so they figured they were the best singer ever and hustled their butt down there to audition.  I’m tired and bored of seeing those people.  I much rather enjoy watching the ones who actually have TALENT and blow you away the second they open their mouths, and those people seem to rarely see the light of the TV screen as they must get better ratings showing all the non-talents.

I can’t say I won’t watch the show 100%, but I can say I won’t watch 100% of the show.  Maybe when they get it narrowed down I will tune in, or if I get bored out of my mind, I may give the auditions a try again.  We shall see, but I do think the show, all in all, has ‘run its course.’

Maybe American Idol is on to something

I didn’t personally watch the American Music Awards last night, I just wasn’t into it, even though, in hindsight, I wished I had, just to see some performances by some artists I like.  Nonetheless, I was rather happy to find out some of the winners were people I actually liked and definitely deserved to win.  I find it interesting that two of the big winners last night, Carrie Underwood and Chris (hottie) Daughtry were American Idol alum, one a ‘winner’, the other got the boot, but has proven to be much more successful than the actual winner.  If nothing else, this should bring a bit of credibility to the show, I mean, the people on there obviously have talent and you don’t have to win the show, to be successful.  Not that I’m American Idol’s ‘biggest fan’, but they definitely have some gems on there and it’s great to see them go forward and develop their singing careers.  Here’s to Carrie and Chris and hoping they continue to be successful for many more award shows to come.

As promised, I came back..hopefully you did too.

jessica-alba.jpgI’m not even going to talk about poor, poor Paris, it’s tiring trying to keep
track of where she is, jail, hospital, jail, hospital…how will she surive?

Hot news this morning…Jessica Alba and Hugh Jackman voted as sexiest superheroes of all time. Apparently it was a tight race between Jessica, Jennifer Garner (she’s sexy?) who was number two, and Halle Berry (how was Jennifer Garner sexier than her?) who was ranked number three. It seems Jessica Alba is looking for more serious roles now and wants to be admired for her acting ability though. She recently commented to GQ magazine, “I hope all my new work will help producers in getting past my hotness.” Um, ya, perhaps you need to get past your hotness if you have any hopes of being taken seriously as an actor.

Angelina Jolie is going to quit acting..OH NO, what are we to do? I mean, please, take your hot husband and your hot self and your fourteen kids and go live happily ever after if that’s what you really want to do. I hazard to say, this won’t be happening anytime soon, who willingly walks away when they are in the prime of their acting career?

Bye, bye Bob Barker. After 35 years on the iconic game show The Price is Right, Bob will no longer be telling us to spay or neuter our pets. I bet all the pets out there are breathing a collective sigh of relief. You could have a bit of Price is Right memorabilia..apparently his famous skinny microphone is being auctioned off on Ebay, last night it was at $19,000…
kelly-clarkson.jpgNever Again, this might be what Kelly Clarkson is facing, as in maybe Never Again will she tour and perhaps Never Again will she see the shining spotlight on her. First came the news that she had kicked her management to the curb. One rumour being that they wanted her to sing Never Again on the Idol gives back show, but she felt that wasn’t the right song, so she performed something else (which sucked anyways). And now, apparently her tour has been cancelled, as she says it’s just too much, which, in real terms means, the stadiums they booked were just too much as in too many seats for poor not so hot Kelly, to fill. Gotta love American Idle.

Anti-climatic Idol

I don’t know how many people tuned into the finale of American Idol last night, the long, agonizingly boring finale of American Idol last night, but I do wonder why I kept watching the damn thing.  Instead of TWO HOURS, it could have been half an hour, or, really, like 10 minutes, enough time to announce who won and let them sing and then be on their merry way to making an album.  I mean, seriously, the Wynans?  COME ON..Bette Midler?  The talent pool they had on last night consisted of ’singers’ circling the bottom of the drain.  Green Day and Gwen Stefani, those were fine, Carrie Underwood was good, Kelly Clarkson’s voice sounded different to me, Reuben, well, he’s Reuben.

Am I the only one who found the show incredibly BORING?!!  And yet, for some unknown reason, I watched it in its entirety, kinda like watching a trainwreck, just can’t pull your eyes away.  I think I watched with the eternal hope that it just HAD to get better at some point, but, alas, it did NOT!  There’s two hours I shall never get back!!

Alas, the one who deserved it the most did indeed win, how far it will take her, I’m not quite sure.  There’s no denying she has a great voice, but I’m not sure she has that ‘thing’ that will set her apart in the music industry.  Time will tell I suppose…at least I won’t be watching every last minute of her journey  ;-)
