Snow Dog
We got quite the snowfall yesterday and my dog thought she would help me clear the walk. Who knew that bulldogs loved the snow quite this much? Maybe they don’t, but ours most certainly does!!

You wander into your kitchen seeking breakfast and wonder, hmm, what is that noise I hear? You let your acute sense of hearing kick in and after perusing the kitchen, discover it’s coming from underneath the kitchen sink. Immediately you get the ‘uh-oh’ feeling when you realize that is the sound of water dripping. And the sound of water dripping underneath your kitchen sink can never be good. Hesitantly, you open the cupboard door, fingers crossed that by perhaps you are just hearing things, only to discover, that, yes, indeed, unfortunately, you were correct in thinking you heard water dripping because water was indeed dripping. Water had been dripping for a while as all the stuff under the kitchen sink was now sitting in its very own pool. Oh, how lovely you think, to make such a discovery when I haven’t a) had my coffee yet or b) had anything to eat yet. Who doesn’t want to deal with a water leak first thing in the morning?
You find the source of the leak, and think, what idiot installed this tap? It’s so close to the wall that it can’t be turned off, that took brains to hook that one up. You wonder about trying it just in case you can stave the leak, but resist recalling what has happened when you touch these kinds of taps in the past, they are nasty little buggers, who, once they start leaking, are like little volcanoes waiting to erupt at a mere wiggle of their handle. It is rather annoying though b/c the leak is so close to the wall, it’s near impossible to catch the water. In the meantime, the boy has called in response to the email you sent notifiying him of your discovery. You tell him it’s the same kind of taps he dealt with in the bathroom remodel, and yes, you are sure this is where the water is coming from. He has to take another call and hangs up. Meanwhile, you think, I should at least try to turn it, what could it hurt? You instantly regret this decision as the instant it is touched water starts squirting out in all directions from this obviously defunct tap. Lovely words emanate from your lips. With some more delicate touching, you are able to stave off a certain flood and in doing so, redirected the course of the water so that it is now dripping in a more proper fashion so as to be caught by a water holding apparatus. You think, ok, I can deal with this as now I don’t have to fandangle some support system to keep the water holding apparatus close to the wall to catch the drip.
After much observation, you decide things are under control and no way in heck are you touching that tap again, so you decide it is now safe to proceed with your morning routine. You make your coffee and your toast, and sit at the table to eat it. You decide to open the curtains next to you, even though it’s still ‘freeze your nads off’ weather, b/c it’s snowing and you want to watch the snow. And, lo and behold, three little birdies fly over to your feeder, the feeder that birdies do not frequent. You sit very still, so as not to scare them away, and watch the cute little birdies, who are all fluffed up so as not to freeze their nads off, take turns eating from your birdseed pinecone. You think, I’m so glad I opened the curtain and thank the birdies for picking today to come and feast as there’s nothing like a little nature to make your day better.
Maybe it’s just me, but I feel that a bathroom should be a blissful place, somewhere that gives you that ‘ahh’ feeling the moment you step into the room. That is what we were trying to achieve when we renovated our bathroom, but we fell sorely short of our goal. First off, we must have looked at 50 different bathroom vanities before finding one we really liked and wanted. That is one component we love, but aside from that and the wall cabinet, we would love to toss a bomb into our bathroom and start all over again. We spent a lot of time finding the right paint colour, and while we love the colour, the walls don’t and have had bad ‘reactions’ to the new paint job and are seeping this lovely yellow concoction while in other places you can see the old paint and every flaw the wall ever had shows up now. It really gives such a feeling of…doom and that is nowhere near bliss, so getting our bathroom back on track is high on our ‘to do list’ for 2008. Now, if only the money we need to do it would fall from the sky, this would be a perfect world we live in.
I’ve never been, but I hear it is definitely something to see. Las Vegas that is. A few of my relatives have been and some friends of the family and they all have the same consensus, that you should definitely go at least once in your life, especially to see all the hotels Las Vegas. There are so many different ‘themes’ in the city that you can feel like you are somewhere else entirely. One thing my brother seemed impressed with was the food, he said there was so many different kinds of cuisine and at very reasonable prices. I wouldn’t mind trying my hand at a real Las Vegas slot machine and with the cheap flights that seem to pop up every month or so to Vegas, we may just go one day.
