Springtime around here, as in many other places, means an abundance of water flowing where it normally wouldn’t.  As long as it isn’t wreaking havoc on people’s homes and lives with flooding, then it is kind of neat to see how it can find its way to pretty much anywhere it wants to be.  Farmer’s fields which once held cows and calves are now lakes with fish flapping around, geese swimming here and there and eagles and ospreys soaring overhead seeking out their next meal.  It shows just how important water is to so many species, when you can see how even ‘temporary’ water can give life to so many things.  It is also this time of year that I am so very glad they upgraded our water treatment system with new water purifiers because otherwise we would be dealing with ‘murk’ posing as water for the next month or more due to the runoff and high water levels in the river.  All this talk about water is making me want to be near some, so I must be away and see what I can get up to.

Vacation

It has been a long time since I’ve been on a real, true, actual vacation, one that doesn’t involve going to visit any sort of family member, that is. In fact, the boy and I have not been on a vacation, just the two of us (no dogs) anywhere for anything that didn’t involve something work related or visiting aforementioned family members. I would have to say we are certainly due for some sort of a get away, but at this time of year it’s easier said than done. It’s funny, there are many places I’ve never been, but there is one place, Outer Banks that I always thought would be a great place to visit. Why? It was the setting for a novel I read several years ago, and the way it was portrayed in the book made it seem like the kind of place I would love to see. Not to mention it has water and beaches making it sound like it would be a great place to explore and contain fabulous scenery and sunsets.

Lingerie

I’m sure I will most likely regret that title for this post as the spammers will have a hayday with their lovely ‘comments’ I’m sure. Just thinking, I’m certainly not much of a lingerie person, at all. Actually, that should really be whatsoever as I don’t even own any lingerie, per say, just a few bras that are fancier that what I wear everyday. Man, that’s kinda pathetic isn’t it? I’m sure if the boy was reading this he would agree, lol. Then again, lingerie isn’t on long enough to make it worth the expense of some of it. That said, I have given the boy permission to buy me some if he so desires it, just nothing too, ahem, ‘trashy’, or it won’t get worn. One of these bustiers might be something I would wear as it would keep in any ‘jiggle’ or ‘wiggle’ that has taken up residence on my body. And at the risk of going too far, which I perhaps already have, I shall be ending this post right about…now!

Here spidey, spidey

So…I was outside this morning enduring the normal morning routine of waiting (and waiting and waiting as he has this whole “I won’t poop just b/c my butt is ready to explode and you think I need to” thing going on) for a certain dog to do his bidness so I can feed him and put him back in his kennel and then proceed to let another certain dog out so she can do her bidness (which I don’t have to wait for b/c she is a good dog and knows what she needs to do and does it willingly) and then feed her. So..while she is out doing her thing I’m watering my plants outdoors and go to water some Dracena grass that hasn’t found a home in a planter yet and was still in the brown paper bag it was purchased in and I think, this is stupid, I should at least take it out of the paper bag as it deserves to sit on a shelf next to other plants. As I go to do just this, I have said plant in my hand and I notice something(s) moving on it. As I put it down I realize just what exactly was on the the plant:

way too many baby spiders

more baby spiders

baby spiders

Just in case you couldn’t tell from the picture, those are baby spiders, hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of baby spiders, a ball of baby spiders in fact, hatching out on MY dracena spikes. After I recovered from my near heart attack at the site of so many spideys in one place, I thought, as disgusting as this is, I have to take a picture of it. And once I was done taking pictures, or should I say, once I could no longer handle being that close to THAT MANY SPIDERS and the mere thought of THAT MANY SPIDERS creepy crawling around my yard nearly sent me into convulsions… I was on the hunt for:

spider killer

THANK THE SWEET LORD I still had some….’nuff said…
