Not a swimmer

I grew up with a lake not five minutes from my house that I loved to go swimming in during the summer months and one of us kids was always begging and pleading with my Mom to take us. I had a lot of fun swimming in the lake, not that I ever really was much of a swimmer per say, but I did my best and always enjoyed my time in the water. I can’t say I’ve really swam much at all since those days though and I can say with much certainty it has been a long, long time since I have shopped for swimwear. I kind of wonder how I’ve gone so long without a new bathing suit, but somehow I have. I can’t say I really enjoy indoor pools and even outdoor ones I guess, because the smell of chlorine really irritates me and therefore don’t tend to like hot tubs that much either. So…I guess that pretty much explains why I can’t remember the last time I even thought about purchasing a swimsuit although I’m sure there will come a day when I have to shop for one, not that I’m looking forward to it though.

Franchise this

Pretty much every time I scan the classified ads in the newspaper there is at least one, usually several, ads for franchise opportunities. I sometimes will read these just to see what opportunities are out there as far as the type of franchise a person could run. Some of them seem interesting while others seems like too much work for not so much reward. Just today I saw an ad for a coffee business that was for sale, not a franchise, but I said something to the boy about it and he was like, wouldn’t that be fun? I was like, ya it would be, but I don’t think that’s what you would be saying if you were in the middle of running it. I often think I’d like to have a little soup and sandwich place someday, but then I wonder if it might just be too much of a time commitment and less of a ‘fun’ place to be.

Facing it

Even though I am long past my teenage years, there are some days where I think I could still be using acne cream. It is most certainly not something I am happy about, but there are days where I feel like I’m right back in my teens wanting to try every acne remedy under the sun to try and rid my face of the cursed stuff. Lately, I have been doing quite well and am hoping that I have settled into a good routine that will keep my face as acne free as is possible for me. Of course I wish I had flawless skin, but I know that will never be the case as it’s just the type of skin I was born with and I’ve pretty much learned to live with it and through much trial and error figured out a system that works for me and my face.

Insurance time

We are so lucky as to have part of our car insurance and our condo insurance come due on the same date, yes, I know, how special for us. I wish we had the luxury of shopping for online auto insurance, but there are only a couple of choices when it comes to insuring your vehicle here so you either go with those or go without. Considering what you have to pay and what some insurance companies get up to, it is most tempting to ponder going without, but then common sense and practicality win out (for me anyways) and I make sure all of our insurance is current and up to date. We all know it’s the times when you let things ‘lapse’ that something bad will happen and you would forever be wishing you had just paid for the insurance in the first place.
