Only one

Big revelation here, I have only owned one coffee maker in my whole life.  And I only got that one because it was a present, I have to wonder if I never had one given to me, if I would have ever started drinking coffee.  i find this revelation funny because I have lost count of how many coffee makers my brother and sister in law have gone through, it is not a pretty number.  They have no luck with coffee makers or toasters, it’s like some sort of curse on them or something, I swear.  I technically could say now that I have owned two coffee makers since we got a single cup brew one given to us at Christmas.  This works out great because I only ever drink one cup of coffee, yes, I know I’m strange but this seems to be the perfect amount for me.  One cup and I’m good to go, anymore than that and I typically don’t feel so good, and if I don’t have that I certainly notice it.

I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that we live in a time when we have the power to obtain pretty much anything we want at our fingertips.  I mean you can get anything from linear motion supplies to blank spoons for making your own fishing tackle, all online.  I can’t say I have yet to anywhere near fully embrace the online shopping world.  It quite frankly overwhelms me a little, ok, a lot so I have yet to really venture into the whole experience of it.  I guess it probably doesn’t help that I am a tactile person and like to touch and examine the purchases I intend on making so I can be secure that I am getting the right thing and the thing that I want.  Maybe, if I am having shopping issues, I will buy something online for a Christmas present this year.  That might be a good way to dip my toe into the big unknown…

Bigtime fail

The other day, faced with a mini mountain of hot peppers, I was looking for different ways to use them and/or preserve them.  I did some research and found that roasting hot peppers is supposed to bring out a very nice flavour and can be used in salsas and sauces.  I thought had recalled reading they were to be placed right under the broiler and they would roast up in about 5 minutes.  Always one to follow directions, well, at least when trying something new, I did as I thought I was supposed to do.  Things were going swimmingly until I heard this ‘pop’ noise, and thought, oh, must just be the skins releasing from the pressure or something.  Then I quickly heard another pop followed by the sound of something(s) pinging off the sides of the oven.  I periously opened the oven door, only to hear another pop and dodge a flying object.  I quickly closed the door and realized what was going on.  All this through the choking and eyes tearing up from the heat of the peppers which had succeeded in vaporing itself and nearly knocking me over.  I turned the oven off for fear of further destruction, but it was apparently too late.  There wasn’t anything I could do as I did not want exploded hot peppers all over my kitchen, so I had to leave the door closed as I listened to them release themselves all over the inside of the oven.  What a disaster!!  Took me all afternoon to get the burning sensation out of my throat from the damn vapours.  Don’t think I will be trying that again anytime soon.

No golfers here

I have never been on a golf course, never hit a golf ball or swung a golf club.  Yes, that’s my big confession for the day, week, month, year (take your pick).  It may seem strange, but I’ve never had any interest in the big ‘ol game of golf, so needless to say I won’t be buying anything from Cobra golf anytime soon, even though they have some nice shiny stuff on there.  It’s not to say that the boy hasn’t tried to co-erce me onto the golf course, or even the driving range, but I’ve yet to concede and feign interest in it all enough to actually go.  I’m not saying I will never attempt the game, I just can’t say when that would actually happen, but I will be sure to blog about it if it ever does.
